Israel Lobby Forces Withdrawal of Freeman Candidacy for National Intelligence Council Chairmanship

According to Talking Points Memo, earlier today:
Director of National Intelligence Dennis C. Blair announced today that Ambassador Charles W. Freeman Jr. has requested that his selection to be Chairman of the National Intelligence Council not proceed. Director Blair accepted Ambassador Freeman's decision with regret.
What horrendously inaccurate, inappropriate and anti-semitic things came gushing forth out of Freeman's hitlermouth like the blood from the elevator of the Overlook Hotel?
In retrospect, Al Qaeda has played us with the finesse of a matador exhausting a great bull by guiding it into unproductive lunges at the void behind his cape. By invading Iraq, we transformed an intervention in Afghanistan most Muslims had supported into what looks to them like a wider war against Islam. We destroyed the Iraqi state and catalyzed anarchy, sectarian violence, terrorism, and civil war in that country. Meanwhile, we embraced Israel’s enemies as our own; they responded by equating Americans with Israelis as their enemies. We abandoned the role of Middle East peacemaker to back Israel’s efforts to pacify its captive and increasingly ghettoized Arab populations. We wring our hands while sitting on them as the Jewish state continues to seize ever more Arab land for its colonists.
Well, I mean, Jesus Christ. What a whacko. It's pretty bizarre he would think that the American people can dictate interests different from that of the State of Israel's. Sure, we send them $7 million per day in no-strings-attached aid, which amounts to about $500 per person, per year, in an industrialized western state. But that doesn't mean we get to start telling them what to do. For instance:
Israel has had for 40 years land beyond its previously established borders to trade for peace. It has been unable to make this exchange except when a deal was crafted for it by the United States, imposed on it by American pressure, and sustained at American taxpayer expense. For the past half decade Israel has enjoyed carte blanche from the United States to experiment with any policy it favored to stabilize its relations with the Palestinians and its other Arab neighbors, including most recently its efforts to bomb Lebanon into peaceful coexistence with it and to smother Palestinian democracy in its cradle.
Oh, well there you go. Obviously facts have no business in national intelligence.

Thanks, AIPAC. Thanks, Chuck Schumer. Can't wait for more 1:43 Israeli-to-Palestinian death ratios! If the last 40 years have proved broke, why fix it when we can just keep breaking it and maybe break it hard enough that it fixes itself? Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to go back to becoming sexually aroused at more footage of 150mm shells blowing up Palestinian ambulances, white phosphorous raining on protected UN compounds and IDF bulldozers literally driving over people's homes from behind plate armor.

Et tu, Mr. Destructo? is a politics, sports and media blog whose purpose is to tell jokes or be really right about things. All of us have real jobs and don't need the hassle that telling jokes here might occasion, which is why it's more tasteful to pretend to be mass murderers.
